Part-time Position
Compensation consists of a $5,000.00 stipend for the 2019 Spring semester
Under the general supervision of the Athletic Director, the Head Coach, Esports will head the organization and administration in all aspects of the Esports programming in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the sports program and the institution. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the college's mission, vision and values which include diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements
- Coaching, Instruction, and Team Administration (50%)
- Plan, organize, and develop Esports programming and activities.
- Understand and abide by universal standards of confidentiality and ethical decision-making.
- Provide instruction to students regarding relevant skill development, a focus on great teamwork, and their own character development.
- Responsible for providing leadership to the team including budgeting, scheduling, and organizing travel arrangements.
- Attend all practices and games while overseeing all game and practice logistics.
- Organize and oversee sport-specific fundraising.
- Responsible to ensure all of the coaching staff and athletes are compliant with national affiliation rules.
- Reports any known violations or concerns to administration.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of and compliance with applicable national affiliations, conference, college and departmental rules and regulations within the sports program.
- Promote the academic progress and graduation of student-athletes, including assisting with enforcement of the mandatory study program.
- Ensure all members of the team abide by the student–athlete handbook.
- Assist with the marketing and promotion of the athletic department.
- Monitor student academic performance and social development and make referrals to appropriate resources.
- Responsible for assisting in maintenance and upkeep of the gaming facility.
- Assist Athletic Department in athletic issues as needed.
- Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NACE and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics.
Recruiting (50%)
- Develops recruiting strategy to achieve recruiting goals as pre-approved with the Director of Athletics.
- Work with Athletic Director and Office of Admission to recruit qualified prospective student-athletes, both incoming freshmen and transfers to Hood College. Included are off-campus contacts and evaluations as well as serving as College representative during on-campus prospect visits.
Qualifications

- Proven integrity, leadership, and a thorough knowledge of Esports programming are required.
- Candidate should possess a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified student-athletes.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant work experience is required. Proven successful coaching, with 2-3 years experience preferred, preferably at the collegiate level or combination of education and experience. Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations preferred. Experience working with female student-athletes highly desirable. Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Technology Skills
Computer proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, such as, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Proficient with internet and email. Ability to use available instructional technology resources to effectively teach in a manner conducive to classroom presentation including, but not limited to, use of audio visual equipment, computer, educational software, etc.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively provide information and positively respond to questions from both external and internal customers both in person and by phone. Ability to develop marketing or promotion materials. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, or others.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with and apply basic mathematical concepts timely and accurately, either manually or by using a calculator.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to hypothesize, draw conclusions, and support conclusions. Ability to work in theoretical arena and apply logic as appropriate.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy. Factors could include noise at sporting events, interacting with the public and other teams. This position requires travel with the team to scheduled sporting events. Evening and weekend work is required to support sporting events or special projects scheduled by Admissions.
