(Closed) Content Coordinator (Japan)
ABOUT OUR COMPANY
Originally a volunteer passion project that aimed to provide a home to people looking to work in the esports industry and a place for hiring companies to find endemic talent, Hitmarker is now the largest job platform in esports and the video game industry.
Before COVID-19 struck, we were a team of 10 full-time staff working from our office in Newcastle upon Tyne, which is in the far north of England. These days, weβre a team of 10 full-time staff working 100% remotely from two continents (Europe and South America).
Everyone at Hitmarker genuinely cares about helping people and making esports and the wider video game industry a better, more inclusive place. Thatβs why weβre all here living the startup life and working diligently day-in, day-out to provide the best service possible.
Weβve just smashed our second equity crowdfunding campaign funding target and are now looking to add five more full-time staff to our team. Weβre hoping to find more dedicated and upstanding humans who want to be part of something thatβs truly one of a kind.
In addition to a new Content Coordinator (Japan) (hopefully thatβs you), weβre also looking for a Business Development Coordinator, Designer, and Web Developer. If you know anyone who might be a fit for any of these openings, please let them know!
If youβd like to dive deeper into Hitmarker, you can find all of our social links on our company page.
ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Are you the Content Coordinator (Japan) weβre looking for to help us launch Hitmarker Japan in 2021?

WHAT YOUβLL DO
Youβll help us roll out, manage, and promote a brand new, fully-Japanese version of Hitmarker by:
Localising our proprietary hiring platform to make it completely accessible to a Japanese audience.
Researching our competitors in the Japanese market and finding all of the other places where Japanese esports and video game industry jobs exist.
Moderating the platform to provide the best user experience by ensuring all jobs are categorised properly, formatted correctly, and havenβt already been posted.
Marketing the platform across the relevant social media channels to reach people looking for esports and video game jobs, as well as companies hiring for these jobs.
Developing relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and other staff at prominent video game companies to grow Hitmarkerβs Japanese client list.
Providing best-in-class customer service to candidates and hiring companies alike.
This sounds like a lot, we know. But please donβt worry. Weβve got multiple people in our team who have walked this path before and will guide you every step of the way.
WHO YOU ARE
Weβre not prioritising professional experience or qualifications, but we are looking for a very specific type of human to fill this role. You should be:
A gamer. You donβt need to play a specific title on a particular device. You donβt need to be any good. You just need to love gaming and care about this industry.
A Hitmarker user. This is such a wide-ranging role that familiarity with our platform and existing social media accounts will be a big help in your early days with us.
Bilingual. It should go without saying that you need to be fluent in both English and Japanese to apply to this position. Please donβt apply if you arenβt.
Tech-savvy. Weβre a video game company, but weβre providing software as a service. Youβre going to be using multiple external web applications in this role too.
A communicator. You can get your point across clearly, concisely, and politely, whether youβre writing or talking on the phone, on a video call, or face-to-face.
Organised. You keep track of stuff. That might mean you make lists, it might mean you use a specific productivity app, but you always come prepared.
A team player. Youβre going to be relying heavily on your teammates, especially in your first few months. Weβll build a new team around you later on, if all goes to plan!
Dedicated. For 35 hours a week, you come to work to do work. We donβt expect you to live and breathe Hitmarker, we just want you to care when youβre here.
Honest. If youβve got a problem, youβre not afraid to air it. If you canβt do something, youβre upfront about it. If you need help with something, you ask for it.
Reliable. If you say youβre going to do something, it gets done. If youβve got a meeting scheduled, you show up on time and ready to go.
WHAT YOUβLL GET
Regardless of whether you join us as a full-time employee or a full-time freelancer, you'll receive benefits in addition to your salary:
The real living wage of Β£9.50 per hour. We work 35 hours per week, so this equates to an annual salary of Β£17,290.
28 days of paid holiday per year, inclusive of bank holidays, plus your birthday off (or a bonus day off if your birthday falls on an existing holiday)!
Entry into our NEST employee pension scheme. (UK-based employees only.)
Entry into our staff equity scheme after one year of service.
Annual salary and commission reviews with increases based on performance.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply on Hitmarker only with (1) a tailored cover letter that tells us why you want to join our team, why we should hire you, and why a Japanese version of Hitmarker is a great idea and (2) the latest version of your CV/resume before 5 p.m. GMT on Friday 22nd January 2021. Weβll contact you by the end of January at the latest.
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
If you feel like you'd excel in this position, please donβt talk yourself out of applying. We donβt care what your age, gender, nationality, skin colour, disability, sexual orientation, or religion is. Join us and help us build a better, more diverse Hitmarker and a better, more diverse video game industry.
