Originally a volunteer passion project that aimed to provide a home to people looking to work in the esports industry and a place for hiring companies to find endemic talent, Hitmarker is now the largest job platform in the video game industry.

Before COVID-19 struck, we were a team of nine full-time staff working from our office in Newcastle upon Tyne (NE1 4XF), which is in the far north of England. These days, weโ€™re a team of 15 full-time staff working 100% remotely from three continents (Asia, Europe, and South America). Those of us in the UK hope to return to the office this summer, though!

Everyone at Hitmarker genuinely cares about helping people and making esports and the wider video game industry a better, more inclusive place. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re all here living the startup life and working diligently day-in, day-out to provide the best service possible.

We recently smashed our second equity crowdfunding campaign funding target and are looking to add even more people to our team. Weโ€™re hoping to find more dedicated and upstanding humans who want to be part of something thatโ€™s truly one of a kind.

Are you the Content Coordinator (Germany) weโ€™re looking for to potentially help us launch Hitmarker DE later this year?

The successful candidate will help us create a German version of our platform and then help to manage it on a day-to-day basis by promoting its listings across social media, attracting new clients, helping users, and more.

The perfect candidate would be a gamer and existing Hitmarker user who is fluent in both English and German, tech-savvy, a strong communicator, an effective organiser, and a team player.

This position is open to anyone in the UK aged between 16 and 24 who is currently in receipt of Universal Credit and not in education. No formal qualifications are required to apply. Dedication, honesty, and reliability are all imperative, though.

The Content Coordinator (Germany) will work closely with our Content Lead and Creative Lead, and will receive support from all other members of our team.

The salary offered is ยฃ9.50 per hour for the duration of the six-month placement and eligible applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply!

Youโ€™ll help us roll out, manage, and promote a brand new, German version of Hitmarker by:

  • Localising our proprietary hiring platform to make it completely accessible to a German audience.

  • Researching our competitors in the German market and finding all of the other places where German esports and video game industry jobs exist

  • Moderating the platform to provide the best user experience by ensuring all jobs are categorised properly, formatted correctly, and havenโ€™t already been posted.

  • Marketing the platform across the relevant social media channels to reach people looking for esports and video game jobs, as well as companies hiring for these jobs.

  • Developing relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and other staff at prominent video game companies to grow Hitmarkerโ€™s German client list.

  • Providing best-in-class customer service to candidates and hiring companies alike.

This sounds like a lot, we know. But please donโ€™t worry. Multiple people in our team have walked this path before and will guide you every step of the way!


Weโ€™re not looking for professional experience or qualifications, just a very specific type of human. You should be:

  • A gamer. You donโ€™t need to play a specific title on a particular device. You donโ€™t need to be any good. You just need to love gaming and care about this industry.

  • A Hitmarker user. This is such a wide-ranging role that familiarity with our platform and existing social media accounts will be a big help in your early days with us.

  • Bilingual. It should go without saying that you need to be fluent in both English and German to apply to this position. Please donโ€™t apply if you arenโ€™t!

  • Tech-savvy. Weโ€™re a video game company, but weโ€™re providing software as a service. Youโ€™re going to be using multiple external web applications in this role too.

  • A communicator. You can get your point across clearly, concisely, and politely, whether youโ€™re writing or talking on the phone, on a video call, or face-to-face.

  • Organised. You keep track of stuff. That might mean you make lists, it might mean you use a specific productivity app, but you always come prepared.

  • A team player. Youโ€™re going to be relying heavily on your teammates, especially in your first few months. Weโ€™ll build a new team around you later on, if all goes to plan!

  • Dedicated. For 25 hours a week, you come to work to do work. We donโ€™t expect you to live and breathe Hitmarker, we just want you to care when youโ€™re here.

  • Honest. If youโ€™ve got a problem, youโ€™re not afraid to air it. If you canโ€™t do something, youโ€™re upfront about it. If you need help with something, you ask for it.

  • Reliable. If you say youโ€™re going to do something, it gets done. If youโ€™ve got a meeting scheduled, you show up on time and ready to go.


Even though this is just a placement, for now, you'll still receive some benefits and the potential of a permanent position in addition to your basic pay of ยฃ9.50 per hour:

  • 7 days of paid holiday, plus bank holidays and a bonus birthday day off.

  • Entry into our NEST employee pension scheme.

  • A potential full-time, permanent role with us when your placement ends.
