ABOUT OUR COMPANY

Originally a volunteer passion project that aimed to provide a home to people looking to work in the esports industry and a place for hiring companies to find endemic talent, Hitmarker is now the largest job platform in esports and the video game industry.

Before COVID-19 struck, we were a team of 10 full-time staff working from our office in Newcastle upon Tyne, which is in the far north of England. These days, we’re a team of 10 full-time staff working 100% remotely from two continents (Europe and South America).

Everyone at Hitmarker genuinely cares about helping people and making esports and the wider video game industry a better, more inclusive place. That’s why we’re all here living the startup life and working diligently day-in, day-out to provide the best service possible.

We’ve just smashed our second equity crowdfunding campaign funding target and are now looking to add five more full-time staff to our team. We’re hoping to find more dedicated and upstanding humans who want to be part of something that’s truly one of a kind.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Are you the Business Development Coordinator we’re looking for to help us drive our revenue in 2021 and beyond?

The successful candidate will attract new hiring companies to our platform, pursue new brand partnerships, nurture existing client and partner relationships, and more.

The ideal candidate would be a gamer and existing Hitmarker user who is tech-savvy, a strong communicator, capable negotiator, effective organiser, and team player.

This position is open to anyone based anywhere in the world and no formal qualifications are required to apply. Dedication, honesty, and reliability are all imperative, though.

The Business Development Coordinator will work closely with our Managing Director and will receive support from all members of our team.

The role is offered (1) on a full-time employee basis to anyone legally able to live and work in the UK or (2) on an independent contractor basis to anyone not legally able to live and work in the UK. Candidates (1) local to or (2) willing and legally able to relocate to our headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne, England will be given preference, however.

Base pay is £17,290 in year one. The successful candidate will also earn 5% commission on all revenue generated. This commission is uncapped. The role comes with 28 paid holiday days each year and equity is on offer following a year of service.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

We have very clear revenue targets in 2021 and beyond. You can help us surpass all of these targets, and earn yourself a very nice commission in the process, by:

  • Attracting new hiring companies to use our platform through good old-fashioned outreach and relationship management.

  • Identifying and approaching brands who would benefit from advertising their products and/or services to our users.

  • Ensuring that all of our existing clients and partners are happy with the level of service and collaboration we provide.

  • Coming up with new and creative ways to generate revenue by leveraging everything available to you.

  • Utilising social media platforms to grow your network and introduce people to Hitmarker. We want you to become the public “face” of our brand.

  • Representing our company to the very best of your ability in every professional setting, whether that’s online or in-person at events.

WHO YOU ARE

We’re not prioritising professional experience or qualifications, but we are looking for a very specific type of human to fill this role. You should be:

  • A gamer. You don’t need to play a specific title on a particular device. You don’t need to be any good. You just need to love gaming and care about this industry.

  • A Hitmarker user. You’re going to be selling our platform to people who might never have heard of it. It’d help a lot if you knew your way around it.

  • Tech-savvy. We’re a video game company, but we’re providing software as a service. You need to be comfortable interacting with web developers.

  • A communicator. You can get your point across clearly, concisely, and politely, whether you’re writing or talking on the phone, on a video call, or face-to-face.

  • A negotiator. You never accept the first offer and love a bargain, but you also appreciate that the best deals leave everyone feeling happy.

  • Organised. You keep track of stuff. That might mean you make lists, it might mean you use a specific productivity app, but you always come prepared.

  • A team player. You recognise that the people around you are crucial to your personal performance and you work with them, not against them.

  • Dedicated. For 35 hours a week, you come to work to do work. We don’t expect you to live and breathe Hitmarker, we just want you to care when you’re here.

  • Honest. If you’ve got a problem, you’re not afraid to air it. If you’re due commission, you’re not afraid to say so, but you’d never take it when it wasn’t due.

  • Reliable. If you say you’re going to do something, it gets done. If you’ve got a meeting scheduled, you show up on time and ready to go.

WHAT YOU'LL GET

This is the only position we have that comes with a commission incentive. This could more than double your take-home pay in year one. Here’s the breakdown:

  • A base salary that pays the real living wage of £9.50 per hour. We work 35 hours per week, so this equates to a guaranteed annual take-home of £17,290.

  • An uncapped 5% commission on all revenue generated from partnership deals, promoted listing sales from hiring companies, and more.

  • 28 days of paid holiday per year, inclusive of bank holidays, plus your birthday off (or a bonus day off if your birthday falls on an existing holiday)!

  • Entry into our NEST employee pension scheme. (UK-based employees only.)

  • Entry into our staff equity scheme after one year of service.

  • Annual salary and commission reviews with increases based on performance.
