What our Staff Accountants do:
- Prepare journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations for monthly close process for various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Maintain fixed asset system including additions, disposals and monthly depreciation calculations and reconciliations. Work with tax manager to ensure proper recording of assets in tax books.
- Ensure all vendor invoices are recorded correctly in the accounting system and paid in a timely manner. Responsible for monthly tracking of invoices from vendors to ensure all items have been received or accrued in order to properly record expenses in the appropriate accounting period.
- Maintain documentation for accounts payable and vendor files and assist as needed with internal and external audit requests.
- Review vendor contracts/POs to ensure vendor invoices are consistent with contract terms.
- Work with Production team to calculate and pay players for tournament winnings throughout the season. Track payments against accruals and book monthly accrual adjustments.
- Audit and review expense reports and company credit card holder expenses to ensure compliance with company guidelines, proper account coding and calculation of sales tax and prepare journal entries to record such expenses in the accounting system.
- Assist in the calculation and recording of year-end tax form 1099s and 1042s.
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
- Assist accounting manager as needed.
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- Min 2+ years accounting experience required
- Excellent Microsoft excel skills
- In-depth knowledge of general accounting principles
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and organization skills
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently or as team member
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
