Hi-Rez Studios is seeking an exceptionally skilled and inspirational Art Manager to elevate the studio’s games to a world class level.

Our Art Manager’s highest priority is the art team’s overall health, growth, and providing them the clearest path to creating great art, so we are looking for individuals who possess a good depth of talent in a number of areas.

As an artist, we need the ability to nurture and hire good art talent, help artists problem solve, and put high focus on their growth and trajectory. We are also looking for strong production pipeline savvy so our Art Managers can help optimize the art workflow, as well as the communication skills to work well across departments and disciplines.

And as a manager, we are looking for someone with strong people skills who can give good individual attention and build engagement to a wide range of artists across the disciplines as well as innovate to improve artist’s quality of life working on the team level.

The ideal candidate has experience as an Art Lead on a AAA project, good production pipeline experience and overall grasp of the full content process, and a record of team building. Specific credentials or experience in mentoring, leadership, and HR are also very welcome.

The Art Manager role reports to the Art Director and works closely with Art Producers on the Smite team, as well as Human Resources team on team development.

What our Art Managers do:

  • Set the team up to realize the vision of the art director and art leads
  • Provide 1:1 coaching with individual artists to ensure career goals, team alignment, and team health are maintained
  • Help develop and make clear paths for artists’ career development and facilitate performance reviews for the team
  • Be a consistent, steady voice in decisions that help achieve both short-term and long-term goals of the art team
  • Partner with the production department, art leads, and recruiting with regards to staffing and hiring
  • Work to improve the work-life for artists

Who we are looking for:

  • 10+ years' experience in game or film production and have led or supervised teams of 25+.
  • At least 3 shipped AAA games as a Lead.
  • Bachelor of art, degree in business, or equivalent industry experience.
  • You understand how the different areas of art function within a game studio art pipeline, and how to organize and lead artists to accomplish their assignments.
  • Excellent understanding of how engineering and technical art work within the organization, and how to collaborate.
  • You possess strong technical knowledge and experience in 3D computer graphics production.
  • You understand production and can schedule, communicate, and supervise tasks.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and tact
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and effective communicator
