Hi-Rez Studios is looking to hire an experienced Environment Concept Artist to join our Rogue Company team, and work at our studio in Alpharetta, Georgia.

What our Environment Concept Artist do:

  • Develop environments and narratives with bird’s eye view concepts, mood paintings, architectural drawings and prop concepts.
  • Iterate on game assets with production artists via paint overs, studies, and group critiques.
  • Reinforce gameplay with interesting visual and narrative environmental solutions.
  • Follow Art Direction to maintain visual style of the game, and create designs that stay within technical constraints.
  • Participate in critiquing your work and the work of other artists.
  • Assisting with paintovers of images of models in progress to help direct and guide modellers towardsa more effective product
  • Create callout pages of real world reference for materials and construction

Who we are looking for:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in creating concept artwork for animation, film, or video games.
  • Experienced with digital content creation tools such as Photoshop, Painter, etc.
  • Clean, mechanical drawing skills.
  • Experience working with realism.
  • Strong grasp on perspective.
  • Superior eye for light, value, composition, color, staging, and detail in environmental design.
  • Ability to assist in the development of a distinct visual style and a passion to push it to the next level.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with multiple teams.A passion for architecture, high tech, future, and outdoor environment concepting.
  • Excellent work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to take constructive feedback.
  • A love of video games.

Preferred candidates have:

  • Experience in creating visual designs that support gameplay oriented goals.
  • Working knowledge 3D art techniques and software packages such as Maya, 3Ds Max, Blender, Fusion 360, Zbrush, or Mudbox.
  • Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including but not limited to architecture, landscape painting, and illustration.
  • Have shipped an AAA PC or console title as a concept artist
  • Experience with Unreal 3/4 engine.
