As a Senior Software Engineer you will not only be a key member of development but also a role model for junior team members in our game porting projects at SEGA HARDlight.

You’d be working closely with many different SEGA studios on new and existing IPs, including AAA games, to bring these much loved titles to new platforms – including PlayStation, Xbox, Microsoft Game Pass, Nintendo etc. You’d work on a variety of custom engines, so experience with C++, low level programming and CPU/GPU/Memory optimisations is important.

You will be expected to actively encourage good engineering practices, mentor team members for to reach the highest possible quality of games SEGA wants to achieve.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring SEGA titles to a larger audience, and to be instrumental in creating a fantastic working relationship between many SEGA studios.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a key member of the Engineering Team to design and implement game systems and project features
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Lead to conceive and maintain a high standard of technical architecture
  • Assist with planning, work estimation and task scheduling
  • Work with the other departments to complete work on time to a high standard
  • Mentor Engineering Team members
  • Adhere to and enforce good engineering practices and company tech standards
  • Care about the games we are making and how they can be better.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong C++ engineering skills are essential
  • Experience in multiple areas of game development technology
  • Experience in low-level programming and platform specific APIs
  • Experience in CPU, GPU, or memory optimisations
  • You have shipped game titles, ideally on a AAA game
  • You have great communication skills
  • You care about the development process and improve it at every opportunity

The role will initially be remote, as we have not returned to the office yet. The expectation is that when we do return to the office, we will be taking a hybrid working approach and you will be expected to work 3 days in the office with the option of 2 days out of the office.
