Our Narrative Designers are driven to push the boundaries of storytelling in open-world games. We want players to feel hooked by our characters and dialogue, to enjoy having their actions and choices reflected back at them, and to savor a game world that feels alive and real. To accomplish these goals, we collaborate closely with writers, animators, technicians, and other designers throughout the studio.

What you will do

As a Senior Narrative Systems Designer, your main tasks and responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop dialogue and conversation systems that raise the bar for AAA games
  • Analyze, design, improve, and implement in-game ambient dialogue and banter systems
  • Build, track, manage, and maintain systems with highly complex narrative logic
  • Collaborate with UI designers to create a fluid, intuitive, and imaginative dialogue interface
  • Work closely with writers and designers to make the world and characters sound and feel alive
  • Support other teams with their narrative design needs

Who you are

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have 4+ years of experience as a narrative designer at a AAA studio, having shipped at least one AAA game title
  • Possess detailed knowledge of narrative design in open-world RPG games, both single-player and online
  • Have extensive experience with complex narrative design tasks and dialogue systems
  • Have hands-on experience with node graph based scripting or sequencer toolsets.
  • Are proficient with prompt iterations based on rapidly evolving feedback
  • Are able to directly communicate with programmers to implement and iterate on your systems

Interested?

If you think you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!

Be sure to submit your CV and a Cover/Motivation Letter; we like learning a bit about your background and your reasons for applying at Guerrilla. Samples of conversation, dialogue, and/or narrative systems would be greatly helpful. Video links and/or short descriptions of the systems and your involvement are ideal.
