The New England Whalers (NEW) Client Partnership Manager (CPM) will drive new business and create a sponsorship strategy to expand our suite of premier partners. This position will shape our distribution strategy and spearhead media negotiations with global platforms. The CPM will lead the NEW team to help shape the team so that it can grow into a global esports business. The CPM will lead all strategic partnerships for existing and prospective partners as well as help develop monetization strategies for the business. This person will have significant ownership over identifying, evaluating, and executing these commercial strategies. The ideal candidate will have significant experience across sports, music, entertainment, or digital content (gaming and esports experience preferred) driving new business. An ability to think strategically and generate business and to thrive in a start-up environment is essential. The CPM will be an essential representative of our sport to the industry, partners and fans.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop creative and commercial strategies for both NEW brand clients and internal NEW properties (events and digital content)
  • Ability to take a creative concept and determine its commercial viability and subsequent monetization strategy
  • Help drive revenue across all business verticals for NEW and ensure the sustainable growth of the business
  • Develop and cultivate strategic relationships for existing NEW properties Work with potential clients to determine their business needs and formulate comprehensive sales solutions
  • Grow and maintain relationships with key clients throughout the gaming, esports, and media ecosystems
  • Create presentations, spreadsheets, and other materials as needed
  • Closely follow the broader environment, industry, and new developments to inform decision-making and guide partners through potential issues and opportunities, and to seek new revenue streams
  • Work internally and with external parties to ensure smooth day-to-day cooperation and coordination
  • Oversee the ongoing management and execution of all projects and deliverables associated with the New England Whalers, including but not limited to new development, internal and external communication, and recommendations for enhancements that automate processes or generate additional revenue
  • Maintain strong relationships and high satisfaction with partners. Attend events, presentations and travel to locations where our partners have offices
  • Identify and connect with up and coming streamers, broadcasters, and video creators from Twitch, YouTube, and other platforms to be brand representatives for NEW. Plan influencer activations and integrate influencers into global marketing activities
  • Conceptualize and establish new ideas for NEW to engage broadcasters
  • Work with NEW marketing teams to deliver eSports and influencer assets for go to market campaigns

Metrics/Reporting:

  • Track and manage revenue pipeline to inform and exceed quarterly business goals
  • Prepare regular monthly, quarterly and yearly sales reports
  • Use rigorous ROI based metrics to gain agreement on pricing models
  • Ensure partnerships team has all product, marketplace and competitive media information to maximize on new and existing partnerships
  • Organize, deliver metric requirements and track program success by creating monthly reports and monitoring deadlines
  • Ability to learn new systems and platforms quickly to keep up with evolving esports and gaming landscape

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, and/or revenue generation within the entertainment, digital media and/or sports landscape (gaming/esports experience preferred
  • Ability to prospect for new business and accounts
  • Strong ability to comprehend and drive the execution of complex business deals and partnerships
  • Existing network and relationships within gaming, esports, and digital media preferred
  • Keen interest in gaming/esports
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with a proven capacity to adapt quickly
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively
