A little bit about the role...

We are looking for a Social Video Manager, with a passion for gaming and esports, to contribute to our Social Team. Based out of Manchester (UK), there may be some opportunity to work from home, but you must be able to travel to the office when necessary.

As Social Video Manager, you will lead our video strategy across our socials. Planning, scheduling, and producing video content for our social channels.

The ideal candidate will work with the Head of Content and the rest of the Social Team, to align on content, meet deadlines, and grow GGRecon's audience.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Keep up-to-date with the rapidly evolving landscape of esports and gaming.
  • Develop a tone of voice for social video, as well as produce an evolving social video strategy to ensure GGRecon is at the forefront of gaming/esports content.
  • Ensure a consistent daily schedule of content is produced - including pre-produced for weekends, bank holidays, and Christmas.
  • Approach content creators to ensure permission for videos, complying with individual social media platforms’ policies.
  • Work with the Social Video team to ideate social content, and ensure it is produced to GGRecon standards.
  • Produce video content daily, ensuring it is well researched and produced.
  • Cover events where necessary.
  • Have a strong understanding of media law and industry ethical guidelines, as well as social platforms’ policies.
  • Research every video heavily, ensuring that the quality is high, and the content is correct.
  • Research esports organisations and teams to further understand content/the industry and the core games and tournaments that GGRecon covers.
  • Ensure all videos are formatted for multiple platforms in ways that suit their specific algorithms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram - Reels/IGTV and TikTok.
  • Manage the Social Video team to generate a weekly analytics report for all videos, looking at:
    • Overall earnings (when applicable), 1-Min Views, Average View Time and Follow Increase on Facebook.
    • IG Views and Follow Increase, Average View Time of IGTV.
    • Twitter views and engagements, and any other relevant stats in a report to the Head of Content.
  • Work with the Head of Content to innovate and adapt to the ever-changing platforms and algorithms.
  • Work with the commercial team to produce monetisable content.
  • Work with the video team to package our industry-leading news shows for social purposes.

Must haves…

  • At least 3+ years experience in a social role, either freelance or full time.
  • Experience in management of staff.
  • Passion for video, esports, and gaming in general.
  • Excellent communication, oral, and written skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision but also able to work well within a team.
  • High levels of energy, passion, creativity, and enthusiasm.
  • Openly able to travel, such as attending events for the business.
  • Be flexible with working hours and potentially to provide coverage on weekends and evenings whenever required.
  • Ability to work to assigned deadlines.
