Gearbox, the developer of the hit titles Borderlands, Brothers in Arms and Battleborn is looking for a Technical Designer for its Quebec City Studio.

The Technical Designer will help guide the design team by documenting and exposing the technical constraints. He will bridge the gap between the programmers and the designers to make sure the team can create level efficiently by improving pipelines and tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design team with technical elements of game features
  • Help the design team to develop features efficiently within the technical constraints (processing time, memory, storage)
  • Act as a technical reference between programmers and designers
  • Establish and maintain a technical documentation, guidelines, and best practices to help all developers.
  • Help the management team to develop and improve workflows based on technical constraints
  • Develop and maintain tools for designers with programmer help based on the project needs and team feedbacks
  • Collaborate with programmers to define what needs to be exposed to configure & tweak the features by designers

Required Skills:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience with games.
  • Excellent Unreal knowledge
  • Technical background like scripting and/or programming experiences
  • Problem solving skill and curious to learn new stuffs
  • Willingness to improve user quality of life
  • Pedagogic and teaching mindset
  • Excellent documentation, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • An ability to maintain focus and self-motivation towards the current project goals.
  • Passionate about games
  • Enthusiastic, positive, team-oriented

  • Fluent written and spoken English
