GameSim provides full development and co-developer services for Console, Desktop, Mobile, and Web-based Games. GameSim has the staff to provide complete title development. Additionally, GameSim can work as a co-developer, augmenting existing game teams. Whether a publisher needs a full title developed or an internal team augmented with a few resource gaps–GameSim can deliver.
As Senior World Builder, you will guide a team of world builders implementing game levels that prompt exploration and problem solving. This will include ensuring that the desired look and feel of the world/level is consistent. Along with working with other teams to integrate any gameplay systems into the world.
The ideal candidate can quickly get a full understanding of the desired design vision of the world/level and be able to properly communicate this to the team, giving guidance and feedback where needed. They are eager to help guide team members both in the specific projects and with their skills and careers. They can also communicate and work with multiple departments, owning the quality and timeline of the worlds they build.
Some of the cool stuff you'll be doing
Collaborate closely with design, art, and programming teams to conceptualize and create beautiful, immersive game worlds
Utilize various tools and software to design, build, and optimize game environments
Develop and maintain detailed documentation of world-building processes, techniques, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across projects
Create and place game assets, terrain, and environmental features to bring the game world to life
Proactively identify and resolve technical and creative challenges in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Implement and maintain performance optimizations, ensuring game worlds run smoothly across various platforms and devices
Mentor and guide junior world builders, sharing knowledge and expertise to help elevate the team’s skills and overall performance
Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and technologies related to world-building and game development, applying new knowledge to continuously improve the quality of game environments
5+ years in game development as a world/level builder with at least 2 shipped titles in a senior or lead role
Strong understanding of game design principles, spatial design, and player experience
Skilled in 3D modeling, texturing, and lighting, using industry standard software and tools
Demonstrated experience in leading or managing teams, with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively delegate tasks, set priorities, and monitor team progress
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate project goals, provide constructive feedback, and resolve conflicts within the team
Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring a cohesive and believable game world
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Unreal Engine or Unity, with the ability to rapidly adapt to and master new game engines
Possess the ability to effectively collaborate with and inspire contributors from various departments, fostering a supportive team environment that focuses on uplifting team members rather than tearing them down
Located in Austin, TX or willing to relocate.

Experience working with procedural generation tools and techniques
