Job Description

Gameloft’s audio department is looking for an voice-over designer! Come join our team of highly qualified sound professionals, and take part in ambitious projects in a fun, collaborative, and respectful working environment.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the audio manager, and in collaboration with the audio director, the audio producer, the narrative teams and other relevant parties involved in the creation of our games, the voice-over designer’s responsibilities include:

  • Providing voice-overs for our games and marketing videos
  • Promoting the importance of voice-overs in gaming and auditory experiences; proposing ideas and considering systems and processes needed to improve games by adding voice-overs; making sure any potential solutions are viable
  • Creating the list of voice-over needs for our games
  • Determining the actors and types of voices that best represent a game’s characters, in collaboration with various game production stakeholders (creative directors, audio director, narrative team, etc.)
  • Directing actors so they better understand the characters they are portraying and can find the right tone for each line of text
  • Recording when we have actors in our studio
  • Recording yourself to create voice-overs
  • Finding the best voices for a character and finding the best takes for a given situation when using voice-overs from commercial or internal libraries
  • Editing, cleaning up and organizing voice-over recordings
  • Applying the processes and effects needed to get high-quality voice-overs (equalization, compression, normalization, reverberation, etc.)
  • Creating special voice-overs, such as robot, monster, or dragon voices, etc.
  • Implementing these voice-overs in-game using audio tools (e.g., Wwise)
  • Following the latest technological advancements (plugins, tools, etc.) to improve and optimize processes related to voice-overs
  • Helping to integrate voice-overs in game engines such as Unreal or Unity

Qualifications

Skills and Profile

  • Good communication skills, both spoken and written; ability to explain ideas, defend them, and present arguments in order to achieve goals
  • Ability to divide attention between several simultaneous projects
  • Mastery of audio tools needed for sound and voice-over design: audio editing software (Pro Tools, Audition, REAPER, etc.) and plugins (Dehumaniser, iZotope RX, SpectraLayers, Altiverb, etc.)
  • Strong team spirit
  • At least 3 years’ experience in sound or voice-over design in a video game company
  • Experience recording and designing voice-overs for video games
  • Hands-on experience with audio engines (Wwise) or game engines (Unity, Unreal)
