Job Description
As a Senior Technical Audio Designer, you will be responsible for the integration of sound effects, music and dialogue in our games. This will include simple sound-effect playback and advanced systemic audio design utilizing various middleware solutions. You will work on cutting-edge audio technology, expanding audio systems and integrating sound into gameplay to deliver exciting gaming experiences. You will be a part of a collaboration-oriented team where you will have the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways.
- Designing, implementing, and debugging audio systems for game development utilizing various engines and middleware options, such as Unreal, Unity and Wwise
- ridging the gap between audio designers and programmers to be the go-between for the two disciplines
- Collaborating with designers and programmers to develop systems/tools to allow audio designers to further realize their audio aesthetic
- Working with the development team to design cutting-edge game-audio tools for speech/SFX/music in innovative ways
- Adopting and improving the existing audio development process
- Managing audio data budgets, Wwise session organization, SoundBank structure and loading, and run-time audio optimizations
- Taking responsibility for documenting audio systems and educating content creators in audio best practices
Qualifications
Required Skills
- 5+ years’ experience as an Audio Designer or Technical Audio Designer within the games industry, with at least 3+ complete cycles of a shipped PC and/or console title
- Strong proficiency with audio middleware, namely audio systems design in Wwise, ideally on AA or AAA titles
- Extensive experience with audio integration in game engines, including Unreal and Unity
- Proficiency in scripting (JSON, Lua, Python, Blueprints, etc.) for game engines and audio middleware
- Fluid proficiency with C# and a good understanding of C++
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to work efficiently and autonomously with a high attention to detail
- Basic understanding of DSP and audio programming skills
- Understanding of the mix engineering process and loudness standards within the industry
Desired Skills
- Advanced proficiency in UE Audio and/or Unity audio
- Experience with console development (PS4, Xbox One, etc.)
- Experience defining and managing loudness standards
- Experience with sound design, synthesis and audio manipulation
