Job Description

Do you want to join an experienced and passionate team to work on a cross-platform AAA game with a renowned licence? A sandbox game currently in the development phase, where you would be in charge of the overall game economy, as well as making sure that the systems fit together in interesting game loops that deepen over time?

  • In direct collaboration with the Game Manager, and all while being part of the team leading the project, your main responsibilities will be
  • Designing game systems, how they work, and the ways they interact with each other and are balanced
  • Ensuring that these economic systems help with the player's goal formation at the start, in the middle, and at the end of the game
  • Adjusting the various game resource flows and ensuring that these result in a pleasant gaming experience in the short, medium and long terms (10 minutes, 10 days, 10 months, etc.)
  • Identifying areas where in-game currency traps/sources should be tightened or loosened to maximize engagement, revenue, etc.
  • Managing pay tables for different in-game gacha/lottery systems
  • Understanding gameplay loops and player interactions with them
  • Developing simulations and predictive models to proactively foresee changes in economic values
  • Adjusting content performance by designing A/B tests and analyzing their effectiveness
  • Balancing and monitoring the flow of resources from all game features
  • Setting the price of virtual currencies in the game
  • Monitoring the game for flaws/bugs in the economy
  • Monitoring individual and collective player-level balancing to ensure the overall health of the game economy
  • Suggesting new functionalities or systems to address the existing weaknesses in the game’s economic flows

Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of experience in a similar position (extensive experience on a simulation game is an asset)
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, engineering or another quantitative field is an asset
  • Thorough mastery of Excel
  • Analytical mind and ability to identify patterns and trends
  • Ability to have a comprehensive view of all the systems that make up a game as a whole
  • Skilled and agile personality able to juggle strategy and operational tasks
  • Strong interest in video games as a whole
