Job Description
Our Barcelona studio is looking for a Lead Animator for a new action based multi-platform IP that features world famous characters from a premiere licensor.
Under the responsibility of the Studio Art Development Director, you will have to:
- Manage a team of 3D animators and technical 3D animators;
- Ensure the personal development of the team
- Ensure the team delivers animations on time
- Ensure the quality of final animations through giving feedback to a team of internal animators and outsourcing partners
- You will assist the team with animations directly if needed
- Ensure expected quality ambitions of 3d animations are reached, following through daily with the animation team, through feedback and guidance
Qualifications
- Ability to create realistic and cartoony 3D animation with an eye for acting and story telling that captures the identity of the character
- A thorough understanding of weight and movement
- The ability to communicate 3D animation principles through your own animation and in a written/verbal form as feedback
- Passion for videogames and experience working on game animations
- Ability to establish animation quality standards in co-operation with the studio Art Director and 3D Art Lead and/or the licensor
- Ability to communicate with tech animators and technical animation designer on topics related to skinning, rigging and game engine animation states
- Impeccable communication skills, as you will act as the central hub for 3D animation topics in the studio
- Knowledge of task management and the ability to communicate with stakeholders on scheduling animation work
- Ability to mentor junior or intermediate level animators, guide and support seniors
- Team player with a ¨lead by example¨ approach to working
- Fluent level of English
- Ideal experience with Maya and 3DSMax character animation
- Ideal experience or direct interest in approaching the technical side of game engines
