Job Description

As part of the data lake team, you will work on big data projects that process large volumes of data either via batch or in real time, on premises and in the cloud.

The successful candidate will be an analytical person with a strong technical background and at least two years’ experience in Linux/UNIX administration. Previous experience on an infrastructure or DevOps team, with operational tasks besides development and implementation, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Working with development teams on core infrastructure needs, standards and deployment scenarios
Sustaining the existing core infrastructure and helping to integrate new technology, while ensuring system stability
Collaborating with fellow ranking administrators to set up the infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
Debugging performance or deployment issues
Working with data scientists and other data analytics teams
Ensuring proper documentation and traceability by improving deployment policies and procedures
Participating in on-call rotation

Qualifications

Requirements

A working understanding of coding and scripting (Bash, Python)
Experience with automation/configuration management systems (Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Chef)
Knowledge of container technology (Docker)
Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services
Working experience with RDBMS (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations for an always-up, always-available service
Ability to understand abstract requirements, define implementation steps and deliver results, all while keeping the client’s needs in focus
Highly curious, self-driven, attentive to detail
Fluent in English
Team player with good communication skills, fast learner who’s willing to improve themselves daily
Self-motivated and resourceful, able to work independently and interdependently and manage priorities

Major Assets

Knowledge of ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
Experience working with NoSQL databases
Experience with container orchestration solutions (Kubernetes)
Experience with Amazon Web Services or other cloud providers
Familiarity with industry-standard big data technology from the Apache Hadoop environment
An interest in data science-related infrastructure
