Job Description

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

As part of a team based in Montreal, you will participate in creating 3D assets (organic and hard-surface) for character, environment, or vehicle/prop needs while maintaining and pushing Gameloft’s high quality standards.

  • Completing 3D-related production tasks using standard 3D package toolsets or proprietary tools
  • Creating high-poly and low-poly models
  • Performing UV mapping, texturing and tweaking of the final material within the game engine

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Understanding of the technical constraints of cross-platform (consoles/PC/mobile) production
  • Clear understanding of requirements for modeling topology (high and low resolution)
  • Knowledge of various texturing workflows (familiar with PBR material pipelines vs. hand painting pipelines, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable with at least one of the following 3D modeling packages (3ds Max, Maya, Blender, ZBrush, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable with classic 2D texturing and material creation packages (or similar): Substance Painter/Designer, 3D-Coat, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Knowledge of advanced baking techniques (normal, AO, cavity map, roughness, metalness, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret 2D concepts/sketches correctly when creating 3D models
  • Production experience with Unity or Unreal
  • Understanding of the production requirements related to rigging/animation constraints and advanced shading is an asset

Additional

  • Knowledge of procedural workflows and software (Houdini, Blender, Geometry Nodes)

Profile

  • Passionate about video games and 3D content creation best practices
  • Solid educational background: anatomy, proportion, shape and visual language, lighting and colour theory, industrial design, understanding of physical constraints related to mechanics, excellent understanding of materials
  • Solid ability to meticulously reproduce proportions, shapes, and details from references
  • Broad knowledge of the visual arts (animated films, games, character design, industrial/automobile design, comics, photography, etc.)
  • Versatile and able to adapt to various visual styles/worlds
  • Professionally and personally driven: You boldly embrace change and are always willing to grow and learn new things
