Director of Live Operations

Background

Gamefam is an indie F2P gaming developer and publisher who creates, publishes, and live operates a portfolio of games. At Gamefam, Live Operations means everything having to do with running the product side of a game, from content roadmap, producing and shipping features, and optimizing the game’s economy through pricing, merchandising, promotions, and bundles.

The Director of Live Ops leads a team of artists, developers, producers, and analysts to continue to improve the size and performance of Gamefam’s live operated games using any platform-compliant means necessary.

Job Responsibilities (Expect responsibilities to evolve regularly)

Game Development

  • Develop 90-180 day features roadmaps for each live operated game in consultation with marketing and community teams
  • Create monthly and quarterly targets for game KPI improvements
  • Lead team of Live Ops producers to deliver features hit KPIs
  • Partner with CTO to develop new technologies that allow for maximum efficiency and profitability of live operations

Live Operations and Data Analysis + Reporting

  • Ensure all data hooks and reporting are in game and operational
  • Own the process of game data reporting and visualization including designing reports and managing employees and specialist consultants
  • Lead the creation, configuration, measurement, and optimization of in-game events, contests, new content, and sales to achieve our monthly goals;
  • Adjust and iterate on features roadmaps based on data, community feedback, and emerging platform trends
  • Be the knowledge center in the company for live ops production, data, and monetization best practices

Support UA Deployment and Analysis

  • Partner with marketing to ideate icon and UA ideas
  • Manage operations of placing UA media spends in endemic platforms
  • Own data flow back to UA analysis team

Qualifications

  • Deep passion for gaming and making the very best products in the world
  • 7+ years of live operations production experience
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills, a leadership mindset, and an intrinsic desire to inspire and motivate a team
  • Experience growing one or more games in retention and monetization over an extended period
  • Experience designing,socializing and institutionalizing new processes for live ops production
  • Deep quantitative knowledge and skills in measuring game performance across macro, micro, and custom-designed KPIs
  • High-skill in knowing how to analyze and manipulate data to find insights, specifically in regards to best-in-class level data visualization design - you know what you want to see even if you need a specialist to bring it to life

COVID-19 considerations:

We are working from home until the Covid situation is resolved, then hoping to be 2-3 days a week in the office, WFH 2-3 days per week.
