Working under general supervision, an Assistant Supervisor provides excellent customer service experiences to Game Trade’s customers through knowledge of the Company’s services and current offers, current & upcoming video games, and outstanding customer service skills. The position of Assistant Supervisor is tasked with assisting the Game N.E.R.D.s and the Management team, opening and closing the store, and completion of all other duties as assigned. The assistance which the Assistant Supervisor provides consists of helping Game N.E.R.D.s complete tasks, reviewing progress of assignments assigned directly to the Assistant Supervisor or Game N.E.R.D.s, responding to Store Manager and Area Manager requests, and completing reports and other documents.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Supervising

  • Review current shift’s list of tasks and determine what needs to be completed in accordance to Managers priorities
  • Review Game N.E.R.D. performance and highlight opportunities for the shift
  • Assist with Game N.E.R.D. operational tasks such as filing games, sales floor inspections, and other listed in the Game Planner
  • Open the store for business in assistance with a Game N.E.R.D. or Manager, if either are scheduled, and ensure all Game Planner tasks for opening have been completed
  • Close the store for end-of-business in assistance with a Game N.E.R.D. or Manager and ensure all Game Planner tasks for opening have been completed

Customer Service

  • Provide excellent customer service, approaching & greeting all customers, politely answer all customer questions, and make recommendations aligning with customer needs and Game Trade products and services
  • Process transactions via Point-of-Sale systems including those with trades, exchanges/returns, and payments of cash, credit/debit, gift cards, or store credit
  • Prioritize customers over operational tasks such as filing games, cleaning, sales floor inspections, and others listed in the Game Planner
  • Answer phone calls quickly, courteously, and professionally
  • Promote current promotions and sales, products and services, pre-owned merchandise, trades, V.I.P. membership benefits, pre-orders and pre-order bonuses, disc repair protection plans, Love it or Hate it Plans, and Product Replacement Plans
  • Address customer questions or concerns regarding store return/exchange policy, price matching, or trade values, requesting management assistance if necessary
  • Thank all customers for shopping with Game Trade after every transaction

Inventory/Merchandising

  • Review any shipments received on shift and complete any necessary purchase orders
  • Notify Managers if expected shipments did not arrive on time, items are missing from shipments, or if shipments contain unreleased merchandise to be saved off at a later date
  • Prepare paperwork from shipments to be filed
  • Ensure recently received merchandise is filed and displayed in a timely manner and in accordance to any street dates or embargos set by distributors
  • Perform price changes when necessary

Loss Prevention

  • Assist Managers with inventory, category, and invoice counts
  • Alert Managers of any inventory discrepancies
  • Maintain awareness of in-store activity
  • Keep Managers aware of situations that could lead to loss/theft
  • Comply with all transaction and return/exchange policies and procedures

Store Operations and Maintenance

  • Assist staff in keeping store clean and free of trash, dust, dirt, and spills/stains
  • Process trade-ins and display outbound products throughout the business day
  • Ensure Management is aware of any store damages, caused internally or externally, repairs, or emergencies
  • Review operational tasks listed in Game Planner to ensure completion to Game Trade standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach with arms / hands and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. from ground level to minimum height of 4 feet
  • Must be able to stand up to 5 or more hours a day
  • Must have working knowledge of current Windows operating systems alongside office software and services
  • Working knowledge of current and upcoming video games, accessories, consoles, services, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively using verbal and written English
  • Must be able to alphabetize
  • Must be able to effectively work under pressure and have the ability to handle stress in a manner that is appropriate and acceptable to others and Game Trade
  • Must consistently follow and adhere to all Game Trade policies and procedures
  • Must consistently demonstrate a commitment to Game Trade policies and procedures, including but not limited to, confidentiality, attendance, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Drive or other word document and spreadsheet software

Preferences

  • Working experience in retail, sales, or related fields
  • Retro video game knowledge
  • Bilingual communication, including Spanish
