We have a modern spacious studio located on the Cambridge Science Park in the heart of the Cambridge tech hub. Frontier is looking for an experienced senior designer to become a pivotal, driving force within the live game content team on Elite Dangerous.

The role will involve designing, planning, and ensuring the smooth delivery of events and content that can help bring the story arcs of Elite Dangerous to life for our players. Understanding how to make a story well told using in-game events, you will push for high quality content that matches short term goals and aligns with the long-term vision for both the game and the universe of Elite. You will play a vital role in connecting the multi-discipline live game team as well as other areas of Frontier including the community and monetisation teams, ensuring that all areas work together to support each other and deliver a cohesive, multi-faceted experience to the players. You will be actively involved in creating and scheduling and delivering the content to the players, as well as both proactively and reactively troubleshoot issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide new and exciting experiences for our players again and again
  • Identify gaps in the toolkit and propose smart, efficient designs to solve them
  • Analyse our content creation pipelines and work with the rest of the team to propose and implement solutions
  • Ensure that the vision for the game as set by the Game Director remains consistent and present in the Live Game Content Team’s proposals
  • Work with the Game Director and the Narrative team to define the road map turning this vision into well-scoped sprints, regular content deliveries, being hands on in supporting and creating the work whilst collaborating with production and other teams to manage risks
  • Help to maintain the supportive, positive environment that allows our teams to thrive and grow

About you:

  • Significant games industry experience with a proven knowledge of full development lifecycles on AAA game titles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Happy with and experienced in being hands on with content creation
  • A strong understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of narrative in games.
  • Direct experience designing and delivering narrative using current industry standard tools or equivalent proprietary software.
  • Experienced at scheduling, estimating and prioritising work.
  • Experience working on multiplayer games with live content, events, seasons, etc. preferable
