We are looking for a Visual Effects Artist to join our team working on a VR real-time strategy game using the Unity engine.

Responsibilities

  • Create original particle systems, animations, shaders, and ambient game art in a Unity environment.

  • Work with designers, artists, and programmers to perform rapid prototyping and iteration on prioritized assets.

  • Investigate a variety of implementation tools and techniques to find creative solutions to technical constraints.

  • Collaborate with the Technical Artist and Art Lead to define, build, and implement visual effects pipelines.

  • Refine and polish the style of Effects Art assets to match the quality of the overall art direction.

  • Optimize Effects assets for performance and platform specialization.

  • Work independently to solve problems and get your work done, but know when to collaborate to complete tasks more efficiently.

  • Correctly scope work and provide time estimates that you are able to hit to deliver key milestones.

  • Collaborate with our distributed team including other artists and the art lead from your home office on equipment we provide.

  • Work core hours in the North American Central time zone with the rest of our team.

Requirements

  • Experience creating game-ready 3D Visual Effects

  • Prior Unity or Unreal engine experience

  • An understanding of performance and rendering pipelines

Nice-To-Have Experience

We don’t expect our artists to come to us knowing how to do everything, and we believe in mentoring and growing our team members while they work on projects. Any of the following experience is not required, but is a plus:

  • Experience with realistic art styles

  • Experience working on VR titles

  • Knowledge of other game art best practices, such as 3D modeling, UI
