At FACEIT we’re looking for a seasoned data engineer, with a passion for big data and emerging technologies and a track record of building robust data platforms. Our ideal candidate will be happy working alone but must still be a team player who can confidently and proactively communicate across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of maintaining and improving our batch ETL process;
  • Set up monitoring processes which ensure that our data pipeline runs uninterrupted at all times;
  • Expand and improve our existing data lake/warehouse combination, making sure that data is structured in an efficient way and is always available;
  • Identify ways to incorporate new data sources and implement the relevant solutions.

Required Skills

  • Experience with any of the following: Creating robust data warehouses/data marts through a good understanding of data modelling principles, building resilient ETL pipelines, manipulating large structured (and also unstructured) data, querying external APIs;
  • Advanced SQL (any flavour will do);
  • Good knowledge of Python (and/or other modern languages like Java or Scala);
  • At least some Linux/Unix experience and use of command line tools;
  • Ability to constantly learn new concepts and practical enough to apply them.

Bonus Skills

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platform solutions like Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage), or AWS (EC2, Redshift, Athena, S3). Exposure to distributed data processing tools like Hadoop/Spark welcome, but not necessary;
  • Git for version control and some exposure to agile techniques (test-driven development, CI/CD) and tools like Docker and Jenkins;
  • Previous use of workflow management tools (e.g. Luigi, Airflow);
  • Passionate about learning new, cutting-edge data engineering technologies and finding applicable business cases for their use as needed;
  • Any experience with data analysis, statistical techniques and BI tools like Mode Analytics/Tableau/Looker and web analytics platforms like Mixpanel;
  • A passion for gaming.

Education

  • B.Sc. in computer science, mathematics, physics, data science, or a related discipline.
