Exploding Kittens is looking for an experienced Senior Graphic Designer to lead the design and layout for board and card game packaging. As a member of our fast-paced creative development team, you will be responsible for brainstorming, sketching, selecting cost-effective and sustainable materials, and collaborating with Game Development on prototypes. You will target the consumer’s attention while relaying important information to ensure premium shelf presence for Exploding Kittens’ games and products. Our ideal candidate has 5 to 7 years of experience working in graphic design and packaging for entertainment related consumer products and an elevated sensibility and design eye for typography, character and color usage, layout, design, and the ability to prepare final digital mechanics for printing. This role reports directly to the VP, Creative Art & Design.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Lead hands on design and layout for various projects with a focus on board and card game packaging to include brainstorming, sketching, selecting materials and collaborating with Game Development on prototypes
  • Design packaging in a way that is cost effective, sustainable and follows safety guidelines for consumers
  • Assist with the creation of style guides and various game components such as instructions, cards, game boards and related elements for play patterns such as inflatables or plastic toys
  • Collaborate with the VP, Creative Art & Design on retail needs and pitches for point of purchase displays, shippers and PDQ (product displayed quickly) and trays
  • Work cross-collaboratively with Marketing, Game Development, Digital and Production & Logistics departments to meet product launch goals and deadlines
  • Remain up to date on latest graphic design trends as well as consumer and market trends for packaging materials

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Elevated design eye for typography, character and color usage, layout, design and the ability to prepare final digital mechanics for printing
  • Results oriented with the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner, process oriented and a self-starter
  • Focused and agile with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining creative brand excellence
  • Organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with logical approach to both the planning and execution of work
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to express views in both verbal and written communications
  • Team player with the ability to contribute to a team of professionals and willing to collaborate and give assistance to co-workers

WHAT WE NEED:

  • 5 to 7 years of experience with progressive responsibility in graphic design and packaging for entertainment related consumer products
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field preferred
  • Competency with Apple/Mac hardware and compatible software such as Adobe Creative Suite, including expertise in Adobe InDesign
