Started by former Xbox game designer Elan Lee and The Oatmeal’s founder Matt Inman, Exploding Kittens and its family of games recreates game night for a humorous and fun person-to-person experience. Today, there are seven games available for purchase: Exploding Kittens, Bears vs Babies, You’ve Got Crabs, Throw Throw Burrito, Throw Throw Burrito: Extreme, On a Scale of One to T-Rex, and Poetry for Neanderthals, as well as an Exploding Kittens mobile app that is one of the top 30 premium games on both iOS and Android.

Exploding Kittens is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Designer to join our growing and fast-paced team. In this role you will collaborate with the Art Team to develop game ideas and art assets, seeing product design from concept to completion. Our ideal candidate is an experienced artist, dynamic designer and a creative thinker with a personal art style that is humor-focused and aligned with our company brand.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:

Create art assets for new products such as cards, game pieces, packaging and instructions, taking a game from concept to completion
Design humorous illustrations and comic content for social media advertisements
Collaborate with the art team to develop early game concepts and ideas
Develop and produce game launch promo and instructional videos, highlighting the irreverent nature of company’s content
Create internal company assets such as Exploding Kittens swag, promotional material and pitch decks
Lead and assist with other projects as needed, taking direction from the Art Director

WHAT WE NEED:

Strong art and graphic design background with expertise in character-based art
Ability to produce original ideas, with both a visual and written sense of humor
Strong emotional intelligence, comfortable with feedback, taking direction and flexibility in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
Experience designing for retail, consumer products and games preferred
Creative storyteller with experience in sequential art and comics preferred
Competency in relevant 2-D software programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Experience working with motion graphics, video and animation software such as After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Blender, Flash, preferred
Experience in 3-D software such as Maya, Max, Z-Brush or Blender preferred
Expertise in animation, motion graphics and video
Prepress and print manufacturing experience a plus
Ideally based in Los Angeles, CA
