Job Title: Head of Sales & Partnerships

Line manager’s job: MD & Co-Founder

Department: Sales

Team: Commercial / Sales

Core hours: Mon to Fri 9.30am-6pm, but must be flexible to cover times of global markets

Compensation: Base up to £40k + Commission (£65k+ OTE, uncapped)

Based: London, Manchester or Remote (UK)

Business travel: Some travelling will be required, attending conferences and supporting ESI Events in different regions (Europe, NA & Asia)

It also runs industry news platform Esportsinsider.com, B2B focused digital and print publication The Esports Journal, ESI Events, and ESI Connect; an agency service; which is focused on brokerage, consultancy and content & comms campaign delivery.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

With the Managing Director of ESI & Commercial / Sales team, the Head of Sales & Partnerships will both deliver and further develop ESI sales through forming and maintaining strong and productive relationships across the esports sector and associated industries and businesses.

The Head of Sales & Partnerships will be responsible for taking the leading role in growing ESI’s revenue across events, media, agency and professional services. This will entail a split focus between three core areas; (1) account managing existing clients to ensure their renewals and that they are upsold to, (2) bringing in new business and closing sales for our current verticals and inventory and (3) exploring new opportunities for the business, including but not limited to strategic and joint venture partnerships that make sense for ESI’s growth and development.

Due to ESI’s status as a high growth business, the Head of Sales & Partnerships must be visible in the market and industry to help to build momentum for the ESI brand.

To be successful in this role, they will need to be abreast of industry trends, track competitor activity and be able to feed in new thinking and consider new verticals and revenue opportunities.

An in-depth knowledge of business development with the esports sector and a proven track record of closing sales, hitting targets, and creating effective relationships with clients is required. There are rapid development opportunities for those who perform strongly in this role.

The role reports into the MD of ESI directly.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sell media services across ESI’s portfolio of products (website, newsletters, social channels, podcasts, magazine, reports, whitelabel content, Directory etc)
  • Sell ESI Connect agency services across consultancy, strategy, brokerage and campaign delivery/ activation. You will help to connect clients as part of our introduction services, and have the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of the services where you have value to offer
  • Sell event sponsorship and tickets across all of ESI Events globally
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, clients and partners and, working closely with Events, Marketing, and Media colleagues, ensure the company delivers the promised services in a world-class manner
  • Manage relationships with clients, and produce quarterly / campaign sales reports for them
  • Contribute to the sales team effort by achieving consistent and growing sales results, and by providing input to improve our events and services to meet customer needs
  • Identify new sales and business opportunities for the company, and contribute ideas to strengthen the ESI brand and grow our offering of services
  • Manage the sales cycle; including sales planning, lead generation, planning & budgeting and sales reporting
  • Ensure that all sales materials and presentations are continually improved and always up to date
  • Production of ad-hoc reports to support strategic and operational management decisions
  • Attend and represent the company at events and exhibitions both in the UK and abroad

ABOUT YOU

You must have:

  • A strong, demonstrable background of B2B sales / account management
  • A genuine interest in esports, including a knowledge of the esports landscape with an understanding of the core and associated markets
  • Strongly results-driven and competitive. Proficiency in closing sales and proof of this.
  • Experience with sales planning, client outreach and reporting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, sociable and able to open doors and build rapport and deep relationships with industry executives across levels
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • Able to deal with rapidly changing priorities and business circumstances

It would be nice if you had:

  • A network of senior level contacts across esports and surrounding industries (gaming, betting, sports, tech)
  • Ability to use data and analytics reporting to drive decision making
  • Experience with basic CMS systems (WordPress)
  • Experience with Google Drive & the Google Suite of products, and/or Microsoft Office
  • Experience working with and maintaining CRM systems for sales
  • Experience working with Shopify
  • An understanding of outbound marketing for lead generation (e.g.. using our newsletters to drive lead generation for our own services)
  • A creative flair and entrepreneurial mindset, ambitious and eager to suggest and activate new ideas
