Job Description
The ESL UK Weavr PR and Communications Manager works within the ESL UK team in supporting PR, Communication and Marketing responsibilities on project task basis for external and internal stakeholders with a particular focus on the Weavr project.
Position Summary
ESL UK require a driven experienced individual to join the Marketing department in order to help with dissemination and marketing of ESL UK projects & the Weavr project. They will work closely with the ESL UK Marketing and Communications Manager & Weavr Lead Project Manager.
ESL is the world's largest & leading Esports company, operating various online and offline competitions. We are an incredibly fast paced digital company, driven by the passion for creating the newest chapter of the sports entertainment history.
ESL UK are the project lead, as part of a 6 business consortium, for an ambitious governmentally funded (£4 Million) research & development project which has been commissioned through the Industry Strategy Challenge Fund. The role requires someone who can join the team, get up to speed quickly, and review the current and planned Weavr project marketing and communications activities. You will need to work in a fast paced environment and work with ESL UK and other consortium members to deliver the project plan. Whilst the role is a contract until the end of 2020, there are likely to be further opportunities if the Weavr business launches in 2021.
Your future responsibilities
To work with the ESL UK Marketing and Communications Manager & Weavr Lead Project Manager to review existing marketing and communications (M&C) activities, create a plan and deliver this until the end of the project (31 December 2020).
ESL UK
- Support the ESL UK Marketing and Communications manager with general ESL project related activities such as writing press release copy, distribution of PR releases & internal comms.
- Strengthen relationship between ESL mainstream outlets and publications
- Deliver monthly coverage reports to ESL HQ Public Relations Department for the UK territory
- Attend Global Bi-Weekly Global ESL PR calls to provide coverage plans and updates
- Distribute global ESL press releases
- Create press guides for ESL Events
- Attend ESL events when requested to handle press outlets in attendance
Weavr
- Create and actively manage a Weavr community to continue keeping key stakeholder groups engaged in the project. This includes setting up and managing focus groups with brand ambassadors, fans at events, gamers using platforms such as twitch and other audiences who will engage and share content via the platform.
- Review and put forward recommended improvements for the project website weavr.tv. Manage the improvements and keep the site up to date and relevant using WordPress. Includes writing content, sourcing photography/images etc. , setting up an SEO strategy and monitoring site usage.
- Manage content for the Weavr social media channels.
- Provide support to the team with organising activities at the 3 remaining ESL One events that Weavr will be providing updates at.
- Support with organising events where the project team will be giving updates to press, potential investors and other important external stakeholders. Writing content, including press releases will be required.
- Create and keep a contacts/CRM database current.
- Communicate to relevant audiences using the relevant channel (could include HTML emails)
- Provide support with PR and investor relations related activities.
- Provide reports so that the project team are kept up to speed on marketing and communications activities.
- Monitor the budget for the agreed activities.
- Support the Weavr Lead Project Manager with other activities that may be required.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Ensure a level of uptake on released PR pieces
- Weavr stakeholder community actively participating in the project and raising brand awareness
- Deliver projects on time and within budget
- Provide progress update reports
Your profile
Must-have:
- 5 years experience writing and creating content for digital channels, B2B & B2C. Includes writing content, press releases and sourcing photography and imagery.
- Track record of delivering PR, marketing & comms projects from beginning to end
- Ability to work in a fast paced organisation.
- PR experience of the gaming &/or esports market.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft office skills including powerpoint and excel
Desired:
- Experience with WordPress and google analytics, or other content management and analytical packages.
- Experience of organising PR and other B2B events (around 60-100 people)
- Using analytics to monitor social media reach.
Nice to have:
- Keen gamer/esports fan.
