As Merchandise Manager – Events @ESL, you will manage and expand the events arm of our global merchandise & brand licensing business, which includes a rich esports portfolio across premium apparel, accessories, hardware & collectibles. The role will require travel all over the world to manage Esports events across the ESL and Dreamhack brands. It’s remote, but we have offices in multiple countries in Europe, US and the APJ region and we support hybrid working.

Are you ready for the adventure?

As Merchandise Manager – Events @ESL You will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, management & analysis across more than 13 esports events per annum and work with diverse teams around the globe. The role will expand into Retail as you grow and expand the business. Your objective will be to provide a best-in-class fan experience, as well as drive commercial growth, working closely with the department head, internal stakeholders, and external agencies and suppliers. You will have full ownership and lead on event planning, including sales forecasting; designing and producing event specific products; procuring products from major esports teams; designing and building the Shop booth; managing the product portfolio, pricing and display; sourcing and managing staff and POS; teardown, logistics & post-event analysis.

What you’ll do:

Plan:

  • Plan complementary shop experience at major esports events all over the world - across the ESL and Dreamhack schedule.

  • Collaborate with the ticketing/sales team with forecasting reports and better understand merchandising needs.

  • Work with agencies to design the booth/tent (internal/external graphics/setup ideas).

  • Liaise with brand and design teams to create new ranges of event-specific premium clothing and accessories, fashion apparel, accessories, and gaming peripherals.

  • Work closely with major esports teams and games publishers to source products for major events. This would include bi-weekly calls with the DreamHack teams.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders such as product, event & marketing teams to increase visibility for merchandise across ESL’s channels.

Execute/Own the management & analysis:

  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to design, plan and launch superb marketing campaigns and analyze performance to drive ongoing optimization.

  • Manage and optimize back-end operations, including inventory management, pricing, new products, supplier relations, and product design coordination.

  • Manage the staff as well as train the vendors on the products to be presented in the event.

  • Set up and tear down the booth/tent (product display).

  • Ongoing review and management of events performance and budgets, to ensure yearly targets are met. Logistics and continuous performance optimization across events to drive sales.

  • Launch new Retail experiences that drive year-round growth

What you need:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a similar role or relevant transferable skills

  • Experience working with diverse teams & Events (Global travel availability)

  • Growth mindset with strong commercial acumen

  • Creative and curious, not afraid to try new things and take on new challenges

  • Good understanding of marketing best practices and trends

  • Experience developing designs and strategies in luxury brands, fashion, or sports apparel

  • Experience managing teams

  • Experience in operating & growing pop-up stores in or around events

  • Retail experience with an appreciation for premium face-to-face experiences

  • Work or personal experience in gaming or esports

  • Strong leadership, people, and stakeholder management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in the English language, both spoken and written
