What You’ll Do

Epic is looking for a Senior to Lead FX Artist to join our team working on various projects in development. A successful candidate should have a strong sense of dramatic effects and an understanding of how to recreate them in a real time particle editor. They will be first and foremost a team player, while also having the ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously.

If you have a strong sense of weight, timing, motion, and you demonstrate technical aptitude with Materials and Logic, we are ready for you to bring those abilities to execute outstanding FX in our games.

In this role, you will

  • Conceptualize and execute a wide variety of FX types and styles at feature film quality levels
  • Create all art needed for the effect, including concept art, proto and final FX
  • Interact with FX developers to push our editing tools further

What We’re Looking For

  • Showreel demonstrating mastery of a wide range of production quality FX
  • Excellent aesthetic eye and deep technical understanding
  • Advanced knowledge of SideFX Houdini and the ability to use it to prototype and generate FX elements
  • Innovative and inquisitive mind to come up with real-time techniques to achieve VFX quality visuals
  • Willingness to work on a wide variety of effects styles and types
  • Abilities in secondary areas such lighting or modeling
  • Shipped multiple projects
  • Familiarity with the Unreal 4 Engine art pipeline
  • Destruction and rigid body simulation expertise a plus
  • You’re user-focused, passionate, scrappy, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do
