What You'll Do

Epic is looking for a Senior FX Artist to join our Rocket League team! A successful candidate should have a strong understanding of dramatic effects and a proven ability to recreate them in a real-time particle editor. They will first and foremost be a team player, while also having the ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously. If you have a strong sense of weight, timing, and motion and a demonstrated technical aptitude for Materials and Logic, then we are ready for you to use those abilities to execute outstanding FX in our games!

In this role, you will

  • Execute outstanding effects for Rocket League by bringing dramatic effects to life

  • Create all of the art needed for the visual effects, including; FX concepts, prototypes, and final FX

  • Execute across a range of visual effects styles from realistic to stylized

What we're looking for

  • Must have a strong reel/portfolio showing executed Real-Time FX work that shows a critical eye for timing, animation, and motion of real-world objects and visual FX with an added ability to bring dramatic FX to life with flair

  • Ability to create all art needed for the FX, and abilities in secondary areas such as technical art, modeling, skinning, animation, or lighting

  • Desire and know-how to push our effects and editing tools further

  • Strong willingness and desire to work collaboratively within a team

  • Ideally have shipped multiple AAA titles within the gaming industry

  • Experience with Unreal is highly preferred, and/or an applicable proprietary engine

  • Scripting experience in Blueprint, Python, etc. is a plus

  • Nice to have skills

    • Preferably, someone who has worked on a live-service game or any racing-type game; otherwise, a strong interest in working on racing-type games

    • Experience working with multiple platforms and with the memory limitations that arise

    • Experience with using Houdini is a plus
