GAME DESIGN INTERN

What You'll Do

Epic Games is looking for a design intern to work with our gameplay team on Fortnite. In this role, you’ll be embedded with the Fortnite Battle Royale gameplay team, helping to create features and systems that delight players with fresh experiences. As an intern, you will work closely with the Gameplay Designers here at Epic, and be a part of a cross-discipline development team that owns the vision and drives to create innovative features and content that expand the Fortnite universe.

In this role, you will

  • Work with Gameplay designers to learn what makes a successful Fortnite Gameplay Item

  • Work in the Unreal Engine to implement your designs in Blueprint in close collaboration with engineers, animators, VFX, sound artists and others

  • Participate in iterative prototyping, both paper-based and in-game

  • Attend playtests, provide feedback, and identify practical solutions to problems

What we're looking for

  • Finished student projects or indie games with experience through the entire development cycle

  • Passion for games with a wide breadth of game knowledge

  • Strong interest in BR and multiplayer games with an understanding of what makes them work

  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to take feedback and direction on assigned tasks

  • Some experience in scripting with items worked on in a completed project

  • Unreal Engine experience is required

This internship has a flexible start date in 2025. Recruitment will be ongoing until teams find an ideal match.
