Enthusiast Gaming is hiring an international editor for an upcoming esports publication project launch. The role will report directly to a general editor and managing editor for the project and help lead and coordinate the team’s writers in the UK, Germany, Hong Kong and South Korea, among other locales.
This role will be part-time, with six-hour shifts four days a week and a five-hour shift once a week. Shift days will be decided based on mutually agreed upon dates with the managing editor. The pay for this position will be $24 USD per hour with the opportunity to add more hours as the publication scales up.
Requirements
- Demonstrable skill in copy editing, either with another esports publication or with a news organization. In both cases, the ideal candidate will be able to display an expertise in multiple competitive games as well as strong Associated Press style skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects at once and coordinate with writers across multiple time zones on features, breaking news coverage and trending topics.
- Good time management skills and communication with North America-based staff and the ability to create itineraries of what’s been done prior to those people logging on and what’s left to do.
- Demonstrable ability to work independently and show initiative while also being able to communicate effectively and efficiently should tough questions arise during solo shifts.
Suggested skills
- Experience in WordPress, search engine optimization, social media management and budgeting are not required but are a plus.
- Prior relationships with game publishers and a demonstrable background in reporting on or leading event coverage of esports titles would also be a benefit.
