The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) represents the leading U.S. publishers of video games across the nation and on the global stage and owns and operates E3, the premier trade show for video games. ESA is seeking a Senior Director of Federal Government Affairs to serve as a primary advocate implementing the ESA legislative agenda on Capitol Hill. The Senior Director will be a substantive expert and proven advocate before both Houses of the U.S. Congress and federal regulators.

Major Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop long-term sustainable relationships with key staff and Members of Congress to benefit ESA.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of Government Affairs Federal advocacy strategy.
  • Keep SVP, Government Affairs appraised of all relevant intelligence and developments regarding ESA priorities.
  • Proactively identify and promote opportunities to advance ESA’s mission and contribute to ESA’s overall strategic direction.
  • Provide Member Companies with substantive and political information necessary to make informed decisions.
  • Represent ESA before various coalitions and third-party organizations.
  • Work with the Members of the E-Tech Caucus to organize policy briefings and events highlighting the video game industry’s profile.
  • Organize educational briefings, technology demonstrations, and video game launch receptions for congressional staff and Administration officials, both on and off Capitol Hill.
  • Draft position papers on ESA’s priority legislative issues, prepare briefing materials and background memos on key issues, and create presentations on policy issues.
  • Report to Member Company working groups on key issues and project developments.

Qualified candidates will offer a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight years of experience in legislation, regulation, or government relations and existing relationships with Members of Congress. ESA is seeking a proactive and strategic thinker with a strong understanding of legislative policymaking at the federal level and proven capacity to network and build coalition support.
