Reporting to the team’s Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing 7-9 software engineers in the Quality Verification team. Our team is distributed with most team members located in the Greater Vancouver area and the others in North America and Europe.

Our team prides itself on building high-quality software with a culture of openness, collaboration, and psychological safety. As an Engineering Manager, you are expected to continue building on our strong team culture so our engineers can do their best work as they grow their careers at EA.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assessing performance, coaching team members to achieve personal growth goals, and ensuring they have the right skills now and in the future.

  • Continue to foster our team’s open, inclusive, and psychologically-safe culture to maintain our team’s high manager satisfaction and engagement survey scores.

  • Assist the development team in planning and managing software development initiatives and engagements with our partners while maintaining a focus on releasing high-quality software.

  • Be involved in the team’s agile processes by running stand-ups and planning sessions while looking for ways to streamline our processes.

  • Coordinate and help deliver regular reporting and communications to our partners.

Qualifications:

  • Technical skills

    • An understanding of the software development life cycle so you can have productive coaching and performance conversations with your direct reports.

    • Experience with project and stakeholder management.

    • A demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely. Comfortable presenting to groups, both in person and online.

    • An understanding of scrum/kanban and agile methodologies.

  • Soft skills

    • Experience coaching and mentoring.

    • Comfortable managing conflict and facilitating conversations where opinions differ.

    • Enthusiastic about researching best practices from the industry and applying them to the team to improve the team’s performance and continuously improve our team’s culture.

  • Other qualifications

    • 3+ years of management experience.

    • Experience with managing remote teams is an asset.
