What a Software Engineer III does within the EADP Marketplace Team at EA:

You will reporting to a Senior Engineer Manager. As a Software Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to work with a team of engineers to build the software design and architecture of our new systems. Most of your time will be spent developing features and optimizing robustness and scalability of server systems. You will also spend time working with product managers to create new features to support EA's many games and reduce technical debt associated with legacy systems through innovation and automation. Additionally, you will be a promoter for best practices within the engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Roughly 70% to 85% hands-on coding
  • Create a large-scale managed cloud service for EA games
  • Resolve defects during QA testing, pre-production, production and from the live environment
  • Work with multiple clients working on multiple different platforms who use the services and features you create to complete user facing features
  • Architect large portions of the software from features to entire applications
  • Grow and guide other engineers
  • Occasional off-hours support for development needs and support of the live environment ensuring our consumer experience is always excellent

Experience:

  • 6+ years of professional development experience
  • GoLang programming experience
  • Experience with Kubernetes, AWS or other cloud services
  • Experience developing online services using REST, gRPC or similar
  • Experience with Helm, Kustomize or similar products
  • Experience with CI/CD and automation pipelines

Bonus:

  • Java or Kotlin experience
  • Experience migrating existing services from Cloud to Kubernetes
  • Frontend/UI experience
  • Terraform experience
  • Crossplane experience
  • Experience porting existing services to Kubernetes from other cloud services
