We are looking for a Design Director that to lead a team of designers to create engaging gameplay experiences in the second to second and minute to minute aspects of the game. This means leading the creation of player abilities, combat, vehicles and gadgets. You have experience leading a small team in building holistic experiences out of many components, but you can also be a passionate new leader that wants to find a bigger role. In leading the team you will be inclusive in your attitude while coaching your team to success. You also make sure that they have a healthy work/life balance and an opportunity to shine in their areas. You will report into the Senior Design Director of the project.
Your priorities should be:
- High-quality and engaging gameplay delivered by your team
- Growing your team members
- Enhance collaborative process and structure within your team
You have experience with several of the following:
- Leading people in creative work
- Making priority calls within a framework established by someone else
- Working with and improving direction provided
- In engine scripting and setup
- Experience overseeing a concept move from creation to completion
- Communication of vision, design, constraints and concerns for your area
We expect that you have at least the following experience
- At least one shipped title in a design leadership role
- At least one shipped title as a designer in core gameplay of an action or shooter game
- Several years of games industry experience
