You will work closely with all functions of the Production Infrastructure Engineering service lines teams to deploy and maintain a CMDB platform (Device42), ensure that asset life-cycle processes are maintained and compliant with configuration management requirements. You will work with asset owners to onboard and maintain their Configuration Items (CIs) within the CMDB and while ensuring data integrity and accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with service lines, partners and other asset owners to populate and maintain the CMDB supported by multiple discovery integrations as a consolidated inventory source for hardware and software
  • Work with various TechOps /Cloud service lines and SMEs to validate relationship information contained in the CMDB
  • Review and update CMDB requirements and processes with cross functional teams to ensure CMDB accuracy
  • Build and maintain an updated knowledge base, scheduled and ad-hoc reporting, dashboard visibility supporting CMDB upkeep
  • Manage and maintain the data integrity of the CMDB for agreed business services, working with other Service Line teams, using appropriate tools and methods, including selective audit as necessary
  • Collect and report KPIs and metrics to measure, review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of the CMDB
  • Proactively review inventory status of Configuration Items (CIs) and perform reconciliation analysis of CI records within the CMDB environment
  • Define audit and CI record reconciliation procedures for recurring data integrity refresh
  • Identify and pursue process improvement, automation, and application integration opportunities
  • Identify opportunities on how to better manage and reconcile inventory and related reporting
  • Promote best practices and consistent process execution across the teams, this includes maintaining work instructions and standard operating procedures documents
  • Implement and evolve a review of CMDB ownership of CIs with stakeholders with an on-going cadence

Characteristics that set you apart, you:

  • Recent experience with CMDB platforms such as ServiceNow, Solarwinds, IBM Tivoli, etc.
  • Familiarity with SNMP discovery and/or active/passive discovery integrations
  • Passion for data analysis, your analytical skills will be leveraged for CMDB data review and normalization
  • Strong documentation skills leveraged to publish information on CMDB data sources, standard operating procedures, auditing results, etc.
  • Comfortable explaining technical matters to business stakeholders and business matters to technical stakeholders
  • Ability to approach your work with a can-do mentality, you do not accept the status-quo, you aim to keep evolving it while asking why we do something and not just executing
  • Proactive, self-directed, motivated, detailed and organized in all areas
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work with critical timelines in a fast-pace environment

Requirements:

  • 4-year Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, Statistics or an equivalent technical field
  • Demonstrable experience of successful Asset Management and hardware/software deployment
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully deploying and maintaining a CMDB
  • Experience with integrations using APIs and ETL technologies
  • Understanding of Linux systems and basic system administration skills
  • Proficient with object-oriented programming language or high level scripting, e.g. Python, Go, PHP, etc. is preferred
  • Interest in learning and taking on increasingly complex tasks
  • Experience working in Agile environment (Kanban / Sprint)
  • Ability to research technical problems and solutions
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills and detail-oriented work ethic
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Able to engage with external stakeholders across various levels within the organisation, and essentially have a can-do attitude
