**About DRAMA STUDIOS**

DRAMA STUDIOS is an independent game studio based in Rennes, France. We focus on creating immersive, gameplay-driven experiences through close collaboration between design, art, and technology.

**About UNRECORD**

DRAMA STUDIOS is currently developing UNRECORD, a narrative open-world tactical FPS built with Unreal Engine 5. UNRECORD aims to deliver a highly immersive experience through realism, systemic gameplay, and a strong narrative approach. The project sits at an AA ambition level, combining creative freedom with solid production pipelines and technical rigor. Our goal is to craft believable worlds, meaningful player interactions, and gameplay systems that feel grounded, intense, and coherent.

**THE ROLE**

This role is about judgment as much as execution. Beyond implementing, we look for an engineer with the technical knowledge and strategic vision to optimize Unreal Engine 5 for the specific experience being developed. You analyze both player-facing design and engine-level constraints, identify optimization opportunities, and propose solutions for performance and visual quality improvements.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

- Profile CPU, GPU, and memory using specialized tools and drive optimization efforts
- Modify and extend engine systems including rendering, streaming, animation, and physics
- Maintain frame rate and memory budgets across the project
- Manage engine version integrations and custom modifications
- Improve build times, cook times, and developer iteration workflows
- Support gameplay programmers with low-level expertise and debugging
- Evaluate new UE5 features for production implementation

**REQUIREMENTS**

- Ability to work autonomously analyzing complex technical subjects and proposing solutions
- Strong C++ skills with professional engine or performance programming experience
- Deep familiarity with Unreal Engine source code, not limited to public APIs
- Solid understanding of CPU/GPU architecture, memory management, and multithreading
- Measurement-driven optimization methodology
- Clear communication of technical constraints to non-specialists
- Fluent or professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Shipped UE title with significant engine work (preferred)
- Console development experience (preferred)
- Rendering expertise for photorealism (preferred)

**WHY JOIN DRAMA STUDIOS**

- Work on a UE5 AA production emphasizing realistic visuals
- Own engine performance topics with direct team impact
- Drive development velocity improvements studio-wide
- Collaborate closely across all disciplines

**WORK ARRANGEMENT**

On-site in Rennes, hybrid, or fully remote, open to discussion depending on the profile. We welcome international candidates.
