The successful applicant will join a well-resourced team propagating core Dolby technology to power gaming experiences that delight and enthrall the digitally connected world. Join us on the Dolby Gaming Tools team as a staff software engineer. You will be an individual contributor on a collaborative team, developing audio content creation solutions for video game developers to ignite Dolby technologies in a variety of interactive media.

Key Responsibilities

You will use your software design and architecture skills to develop content creation tools for video games and interactive media

  • You will collaborate with business partners to define interactive workflows and build software products to realize these goals
  • You will create example assets and projects to demonstrate how to maximize the value of video game and interactive audio experiences
  • You will be a partner to other Dolby teams, contributing your expertise to company-wide technical strategy and knowledge base
  • You will embody the principles of agile and lean development

To Be Successful

This role requires a firm understanding of audio principles to translate artistic ideas into technical implementations that demonstrate Dolby's value propositions. You will need to build a deep understanding of how Dolby technology products are deployed and inter-operate in video gaming systems. You will need to communicate and collaborate well with business partners and digitally creative customers pushing the envelope of interactive audio and video experiences. With these competencies and your software development expertise, you will delight our customers time after time.

Other Essential Skills

  • BSEE, MSEE or equivalent experience with 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Demonstrable proficiency in C/C++ is required, ideally for multithreaded audio systems
  • Experience working with video game engines such as Unreal and Unity or audio middleware programs such as Wwise or FMOD
  • Demonstrable familiarity with media processing APIs and software constructs, ideally Microsoft's. For example: UWP, ISpatialAudioClient, Media Foundation, and audio processing objects (APOs)
  • Desirable proficiencies include: C#, Python, build tools like MSBuild or cmake, version control software, as well as macOS or Linux development experience
  • Experience with mobile platforms of iOS and Android is a plus
  • Effusive passion for movies, music, and video games!
