The Summer Internship

At Discord, we offer a personalized experience for interns, and our aim is to offer an experience that mimics what it is like to actually work here. We match qualified interns with projects and groups, based on interests and skill sets and fully embed interns within those groups for the summer. Internships are paid and are a minimum of 12 weeks, targeting a start date in June to accommodate varying school calendars. Conditions permitting, our 2023 summer internships will be remote, with an opportunity to spend a week in the office at some point during the program.

The Team

Our mission on the Global Partnerships team to help Discord find the next billion dollars of growth. We are seeking an MBA intern who is passionate about developing and executing plans that would open new business areas for Discord. In this global role, you will bring your knowledge and creativity to think through complex business and product questions as well as how to engage with partners across a variety of different industries: gaming, consumer tech, digital media, and more. You will develop a deep understanding of Discord’s user and growth dynamics to inform your planning & execution. You will work cross-functionally with product, data science, engineering, marketing. You will interact with senior executives both internally within our partners – serving as trusted evangelist for Discord’s products and priorities.

What you'll be doing

  • Contribute to new business planning – including identifying opportunities, articulating a vision, establishing strategies, developing execution plans, aligning resources

  • Develop tests and experiments that demonstrate the validity of business opportunities – including user impact and partner value

  • Develop measurements plans and goals that will help the team focus and track success

  • Work cross functionally to align various teams on common goals

  • Go into the field and cultivate relationships with key players and decision-makers at potential partner companies who can provide feedback on our plans & prospective offerings

  • Capture and synthesize feedback from partners and users to refine our plans

  • Present execution results to internal teams and Discord leadership – use feedback to further refine execution

You’ll Thrive In This Role If (Role Requirements)...

  • Currently enrolled in a an MBA program/course of study

  • Ability to navigate adept at harnessing data and in-the-field learnings to pivot and optimize in order to arrive at the best outcomes

  • History of diverse experience including deal making, partnerships, product, strategy, marketing, design, engineer, social sciences, content creation, etc

  • Ability to work with internal cross-functional teams at early stages to define and articulate strategies

  • Knowledge of digital media and tech trends and an informed perspective on consumer applications of such trends

  • Ability to inspire and engage C-level executives

  • Able to build a business case and pitch it to relevant stakeholders

Salary of $44/hour*
