Dexerto is looking for a talented part-time writer based in the UK to join the Fortnite Intel team on weekends.

As you will be expected to source and write breaking news stories and compelling original content targeted at Fortnite fans, you need to know everything there is to understand about the biggest battle royale in the world. Not only do you need to know more about the game than the average fan, but you need to be able to share your expertise with our audience by writing in a direct, entertaining and opinionated manner that’s in keeping with Fortnite Intel’s style guide.

You need to be flexible and willing to produce a range of content from news to expert guides, and opinion pieces to exclusive interviews. We are looking for a creative individual who is also able to suggest original content that will really engage with Fortnite fans.

You will also have to use your writing skills to craft and share engaging social media posts about the stories that you write for the website.

While experience of esports writing for a gaming website is ideal, this is a role in which talent and Fortnite expertise is more important. So if you have the knowledge, passion and can show off your writing skills, we’d love to hear from you.

We welcome individuality, but you need to able to write according to Fortnite Intel’s style guide and be willing to accept feedback. While you will be working remotely, you will be working as part of a team of writers based all around the world, so communication skills, the ability to accept feedback and share ideas is important.

Some knowledge of SEO and social media is also desirable, as are basic Photoshop skills.

Requirements

  • Understanding and knowledge of the Fortnite: Battle Royale
  • A snappy, compelling, accessible and entertaining writing style
  • Able to write news stories to short deadlines under pressure
  • Able to convey complex information in easy-to-understand how to guides
  • Have a keen attention to detail – can spot grammatical errors and fact check.
  • Creative ability – able think of feature ideas and suggest news stories that will resonate with our audience
  • Personable with good communication skills
  • Able to act independently on writing tasks
  • Is confident with social media
  • SEO knowledge desirable but not essential
  • Able to work part-time hours
  • Be committed to good time management
  • Own computing equipment that can run Photoshop and be able to use it competently
  • Experience with content management systems is desirable
  • Is ambitious with a drive to learn and improve

We would also like one feature idea that not only shows off your Fortnite experiese, but also resonates with our audience – that could be tips, an opinion piece or something else. If you don’t have links to previously published work, not to worry, but please send two stories. You must do these tasks or you will not be considered for the role.
