Position Summary

Come be a part of the future of Tomb Raider! Crystal Dynamics is seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced Audio Director ready to help shape and manage audio content at our studio. The Audio Director will be responsible for editing and processing sound to develop professional quality audio assets and establish a compelling soundscape that supports our game's creative direction. The day to day will require the creation of professional quality audio assets including sound effects, music, and VO, as well as the implementation and testing of those assets in our game engine. Additionally, as Director you will help direct and guide other audio team members in the methods of our best practices within the Audio Department, as well as help our team grow and adapt to new competitive processes within the world’s game audio community. This is a highly collaborative role that requires close working relationships across multiple disciplines, while helping serve as a champion for the vision of the game and the franchise at large.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the audio team to realize overall goals and deliver a successful project on time
  • Partner with creative directors to create work that adheres to a project’s audio style and standards
  • Design and create original, professional-quality sound effects for both linear and systemic game use
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and producers to identify audio asset needs
  • Create new audio assets using new and pre-existing library materials
  • Edit, mix, master, and implement music/content into game engine
  • Coordinate workflow and assist with VO-recordings
  • Identify workflow improvements and maintain the integrity and organization of the audio project structure
  • Work with external sound designers as necessary
  • Mentor and serve as a resource for the team through regular constructive feedback, assisting in the resolution of complex problems and empowering others to grow in their roles

Essential Requirements

  • Professional experience with sound design creation, specifically for console titles (2+ shipped console titles highly preferred)
  • Experience with professional audio editing programs like Nuendo, ProTools, Vegas, Sound Forge, etc.
  • Proficient in using game development tools, technology and pipelines (ie. Proprietary Game Engines, Unreal, Unity, Wwise, FMOD, etc.)
  • Understanding of current console generation and PC audio functionality, capabilities, and limitations
  • Strong command of sound design & mixing with a variety of techniques, processes and tools – able to competently produce any kind of audio required for a given task

  • Management skills and experience
