Creative Assembly are looking for an experience Gameplay Animator to join our team based at our studio in Horsham, West Sussex. This is a unique opportunity to work on our next historical tent pole feature.

As part of a focussed project team, you will bring your creativity and passion to your work and work collaboratively with Designers , Programmers and Artists to craft and implement believable in-game animations.

Key Responsibilities

As a senior animator on the historical animation team, you will work with the Lead Animator to help define realistic animation schedules, create relevant animation documentation, and ensure technical and artistic quality in our historical titles.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Work with the Animation Lead and Designers on animation lists and requirements
  • Work alongside the Lead Animator and Animation team to create animations that bring the in-game characters and world to life
  • Assist in planning and directing mocap shoots in our bespoke Mocap studio
  • Engage in stand-ups, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ensure that the standard of your work is of the highest quality, judging it by its function and appearance in engine
  • Take ownership of your tasks, from Maya to their final implementation in game
  • Provide feedback and to mentor less experienced team members, so communication, approachability, and proactivity is vital in this role

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Essential

  • Experience working as a 3D Animator in games
  • Knowledge of animation implementation in-engine
  • Able to clean and enhance mocap data
  • Strong hand-key animation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work both independently and as part of a cross discipline team
  • Ability to receive and apply critique and to contribute constructive feedback
  • Problem solver with ability to seek and suggest pipeline and gameplay mechanics improvements, and influence direction of new animation tech
  • Self-Motivated with strong time-management skills
  • Proficient in Maya

Desirable

  • Experience developing a title from start to finish
  • Interest in Historical Total War\Strategy Games
  • Motion Capture experience
  • Knowledge of rigging
  • Motion Builder experience
  • Experience of game engines such as Unreal, Unity
