General Purpose: The Merchandising Planner will be responsible for:

  • Managing Inventory and Sales Forecasting for Webstore

Position Summary, Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Forecast Inventory needs by item for total Webstore globally on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis. Provide short term forecast to Channel Marketing for inventory allocation. Provide long term forecast to Supply Planning for procurement of materials
  • Consider all factors affecting sales velocity including seasonality, national promos, webstore promos, demand generation
  • Partner with Category Management & Marketing to optimize forecasts based on planned activation
  • Partner with Channel Marketing to obtain sufficient allocation to support sales by item for Webstore for all regions globally
  • Provide Reporting & Insights on:
  • Top Level KPIs: sales, margin, quantity actuals vs forecast
  • Inventory: out of stock, sell-through, and days on-hand
  • Forecast: sales, margin, and unit forecasts by item / category by week / month / quarter / year by region including new product introduction (NPI)
  • Promotion effectiveness
  • Ensuring inventory allocation will be sufficient to achieve AOP targets
  • contribution margin % actual vs AOP including any line items that help or hinder margin (e.g. hub costs, freight costs in / out, tariffs, media cost, promotions / discounts, freight revenue). Provide insights to the business to facilitate next steps to optimize margin
  • Manage hub lineup for items based on item availability, inventory, and shipping costs
  • Support implementation & creation of promotions (e.g promo codes, cart promotions, item level promotions, etc)

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 4-6+ years in merchandise planning, especially in consumer electronics and eCommerce businesses
  • Expert in forecasting and inventory management
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Deep expertise in excel including macros, formulas, pivot tables, etc
  • BS/BA in marketing, economics, business, or other technical field
  • Excellent ability to partner cross functionally with multiple stakeholders
