Graduate Games Designer, F1

Codemasters, racing-game specialists and developers of the official Formula One Game are bringing a rare opportunity to an entry-level designer to start your games career on a major global franchise.

Supported and mentored by the expert the team behind the official F1 game, you will be working in a cross-discipline team to help develop game features from concept to production. Day to day this requires close collaboration with the art and programming teams, surrounded by more experienced designers and participating in daily stand-up meetings. F1 provides an inspiring and continual challenge to develop features and gameplay elements to keep our highly demanding audience entertained, engaged, improving their skills and above all experiencing the true wow-factor of the Formula One Motorsport world.

Here is just some of what you will learn:-

  • Learn to break down work into tasks that can be delivered during sprints.
  • Deep insight in to how to be creative within the parameters of a major franchise
  • How to raise your game - with senior members of the team you will understand a clear definition of what it means for your work to be considered done to the required quality levels.
  • Learn to provide realistic estimates of how complex tasks are and how long they will take to implement.
  • Work with the other scrum teams to identify dependencies between your work and theirs to avoid any duplication and delays from blocking issues.
  • Produce pro-standard technical designs, documentation and overviews

Here’s what you’ll need:-

  • Formal game design education/background preferable; grad or equiv experience.
  • High quality spelling, grammar, and attention to detail are a must
  • Familiarity with Office365 suite and project tools such as Jira or Confluence
  • Interest in motorsport, driving games, or sports games beneficial but not essential
