Cloud Imperium is looking for a Junior Technical Animator to work on our exciting PC space combat sim, Star Citizen!

The Junior Technical Animator will be responsible for the correct technical implementation of character and vehicle animations. In close cooperation with the Design, Tech Art and Animation teams they will work on implementing the existing pipelines and working with the development tools to assist and expedite animation implementation and creation.

Covid-19 Hiring Update: We've transitioned to a work-from-home model and we're continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person's circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement game animations from DCC to sandbox with special consideration to the technical requirements.
  • Work with Concept, Design, and Art team to collaboratively bring characters and vehicles to life
  • Maintain, support and co-develop animation pipelines and tools to deliver cutting edge animations and an efficient working environment
  • Maintain and Support automated animation setups and rigs
  • Implement how elements within projects will interact, build, transition and function from the concept stage to final implementation.
  • Work in several teams on multiple facets of the project simultaneously.
  • Identify areas of the animation authoring and implementation process that can be refined.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of Maya
  • Working Knowledge of Motion Builder and 3ds Max
  • Experience implementing animation systems in a game
  • Strong understanding of character and vehicle animation rigs and pipelines
  • Self-driven, responsible and detail-oriented
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies

Pluses:

  • Working knowledge of Perforce
  • Experience in scripting and programming languages (MEL , Python, XML, MaxScript)
