We have a state of the art studio located in the heart of the beautiful Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth overlooking the Harbour

We are recruiting for a hands-on, experienced IT Support Technician who will be required to work within our busy game development studio, supporting mostly Windows systems in a 200-node network with 120 users.

You will be a highly motivated self starter as you will have sole responsibility for all of our IT and Desktop Support.

This position involves being at the front line of desktop support and working to maintain a high level of operational efficiency across the studio. This will consist of working with users on a daily basis to prevent and solve IT issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first line technical support to users
  • Set up workspaces and hardware to accommodate new starts and visitors to the studio
  • Build, diagnose and repair issues with desktop hardware
  • Perform user and account administration in various systems
  • Maintain and populate the asset inventory, processing new hardware as received
  • Document and maintain internal IT procedures
  • Upgrade and replace hardware throughout the studio
  • Maintain a high-level of operational efficiency through pragmatic application of your technical skills and knowledge
  • Perform general housekeeping of IT equipment and areas, adhering to security and disposal policies
  • Software licence renewal
  • Desk moves
  • Technical Liaison with external clients
  • Producing reports as required
  • Develop, follow and implement IT policies as required
  • Project management - end to end delivery of technical solutions
  • Manage supplier relationships as required
  • Work alongside facilities to upgrade and repair equipment as required

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a technical support role
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills in English (both written and spoken)
  • High-level of personal intuition – the ability to research and problem solve independently
  • Ability to specify and build desktop-grade gaming machines from scratch
  • A strong customer service focus and mindset
  • Knowledge of networking concepts
  • Windows Server 2003/2008/2012
  • Networking (IP, firewalls, VPN, Ethernet, DNS, WINS, DHCP, Routing, security, troubleshooting)
  • Windows 7/8/10 - builds, imaging, troubleshooting, metrics
  • Demonstrable experience in service delivery and a customer facing role
  • Disaster recovery
  • Experience and capable of working with ticketing systems
  • Hardware/Software decision making, purchasing, budgetary management and inventory control.

Experience Or Willingness To Learn

  • SCM/Revision control experience (Perforce)
  • Google Apps for Business administration (G-Suite)
  • Linux / Unix experience
  • Adobe and Autodesk Maya support
