The City of Seminole is seeking a Recreation Program Coordinator. This administrative position is involved in the development, management and organization of camps, all youth, teen, and senior recreational programming, digital arts and esports programing as assigned.

The successful candidate must possess the ability to exercise frequent independent judgment while performing a variety of administrative and support tasks relative to various phases of the Recreation and Leisure Programs in the City of Seminole's Recreation Division. Work is performed under the direction of the Recreation Director. The work hours will include evenings and various weekends depending on programs activities and events. This position supervises two part-time staff, 1 full time Recreation Leader II and all seasonal camp staff.

Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • As directed, develops, staffs, schedules, equips, supervises, evaluates all Recreation programs, as assigned including Special Events, Senior/Adult activities, Family/Youth activities, and summer camps programs.
  • Provides for the screening, selection, evaluation, training, and supervision of volunteers, and recreation interns as assigned.
  • Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities for desired effectiveness; recommends appropriate improvements and modifications; prepares various related reports on operations and activities.
  • Participates in the preparation of the Department’s budget, and the administration of the budget throughout the fiscal year.
  • Receives and investigates complaints from citizens and program users and recommends corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints.
  • May act as City representative in cooperation of civic and community organizations concerning recreational activities as directed by the Recreation Director.
  • Schedules and coordinates long-term and short-term recreation and leisure goals and objectives as pertaining to City Recreation Programs and services.
  • Responsible for the preparation of fliers, brochures, and news releases regarding Recreation programs and activities.
  • Ability to manage and motivate assigned personnel to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of all services by the Department and to promote team unity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Leisure Services, Physical Education, Sports Management or a related field AND a minimum of 2 (two) years of experience in Parks and Recreation or Leisure Services (including 1 (one) year of supervisory experience); a valid Florida driver’s license; Ability to obtain a Class C CDL driver’s license within six (6) months of employment. Ability to obtain certification and instructor level in CPR, First Aide & AED within the first six (6) months of employment. Ability to pass rigid background investigation as required by the City and Florida Department of Children and Families.

Additional Information

The starting salary is $38,637.36. The salary range goes to $56,024.18. A competitive benefit package is provided. The hiring process includes a background investigation and drug screen.
