Chartboost is the leading in-app monetization and programmatic advertising platform. We reach a mobile audience of over 900 million monthly unique users globally and process over 200 billion ad requests. The Chartboost SDK is the highest-integrated independent mobile ad SDK and through the Chartboost Exchange, Ad Network, DSP and other services, we empower mobile app developers to build businesses, while connecting advertisers to highly engaged audiences. We currently have a team of over 20 engineers in our Barcelona office and plan to continue growing.

About the role:

Chartboost is looking for an experienced engineering leader to build and manage our engineering office in Barcelona. We’re seeking someone that knows how to attract, motivate, and lead a world-class engineering team and be the voice of our engineering operations in Europe to the rest of the organization.

We use JavaScript and React for our client, Python running Flask for our backend, and we persist into MongoDB. We’re hosted in GCP and AWS and the dashboard backend uses a number of services including SQS and S3. Our core Ad Serving products are built in Scala and our data engineering teams leverage the Hadoop ecosystem. Our Mobile SDKs and tools are built in Objective-C, Swift, Kotlin and Java. In this role, you will have the opportunity to evaluate new technologies and use them to design better and more reliable systems. Experience with components of our stack is a bonus, but not required.

What you’ll do:

  • Establish and evolve engineering best practices and help us extend our world-class engineering team in Barcelona
  • Focus on building our employment brand throughout Europe to attract and retain the best available talent
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers and managers with varying levels of experience, including participating in code review
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to prioritize and build new features, while also refining existing ones
  • Ensure quality of releases - leveraging both automated and manual QA
  • Work on cross-functional projects with our San Francisco teams
  • Be on call for major production problems
  • Onboard new engineers to the team - lead with a positive and motivating approach

Who you are:

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • A proven record of growing engineering organizations
  • Experience leading a team of engineering managers, working on projects of varying complexity and priority, while coordinating dependencies with other engineering teams
  • Experience working effectively with design and product organizations
  • Hands-on engineering background - you’re someone who is able to understand and help solve complex engineering problems
  • Ability to evaluate and learn new technologies
  • Experience working with international teams across different time zones
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English, Spanish is a plus
